See You On The Other Side Of History
"Don't believe for a second this election is over. Don't think for a minute that power concedes. We have to work like our future depends on it in this last week, because it does."
11 weeks ago I took on a commitment, to myself and to my country, that I would do everything I could, everything that was within my power, to elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States.
Little did I know I was joining a marathon already in progress. Thank you for letting me take this road with you for a little while. Together, with your help, we have already transformed the country. No matter the outcome tomorrow. We have become CHANGE. We are HISTORY. With all of us combined, we have become POWERFUL.
My teeth hurt. I really, really need to get back to the gym. My hair's gone so gray I'm long past the point of telling everyone "It's just the sun....." But none of this matters, because in less than 24 hours I know we will have done everything we could, everything that was within our power, to elect Barack Obama the next president of the United States.
See you on the other side of history.

Obama Agitator youth Camps
Oh. Dear. God.
Sometimes, just for fun, I'll cruise the conservative blogs, just to see how the other side lives. One of my favorites is Free Republic, which gives you a wide spectrum of Republican thought - all the way from paranoid schizophrenic to just plain insane.

Obama, if elected, plans "....to herd American youth into government-funded re-education camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of 'social change'."
Yup, that's right, you're children will get all expense paid (thank you taxpayers!) vacation to a Obama Agitator Your Camp!
The pieces are coming together.
We're getting a more complete picture of Barack Obama's Draconian plans to create a domestic army of radical extremists promoting bigger and more intrusive government.
The plan is to create a boot camp for community agitators – paid for by you, the U.S. Taxpayer.
Investor's Business Daily deserves credit for putting together the elaborate jigsaw puzzle.
I merely saw the smoke. IBD discovered the fire. But for reference, you will want to read about what I found previously regarding Obama's calls for a "civilian national security force."
It seems Obama was a founding member of a group called Public Allies in 1992.
In 1993, he resigned before his wife, Michelle, took over as executive director of the Chicago chapter.
This little-known, but well-funded, band of taxpayer-supported social misfits will, according to IBD, serve as the centerpiece of his "Universal Voluntary Public Service" program.
"Universal voluntary?" Isn't that an oxymoron?
Yes, but just consider the moron who is advocating it.
"Big Brother had nothing on the Obamas," write the editorialists for IBD. "They plan to herd American youth into government-funded re-education camps where they'll be brainwashed into thinking America is a racist, oppressive place in need of 'social change.
'"The "Obama Youth" will get a monthly stipend of $1,800, plus paid health and child care, plus a $4,725 grant after their "service" for future education or school loan payoffs.
But this isn't just a make-work program.
IBD says the "real mission is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about 'social change' through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation – the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul 'The Red' Alinsky.
"The group boasts that graduates of the program are more than twice as likely as other young people to "engage in protest activities." Isn't that wonderful?
That's the real purpose – using your tax dollars to foment extremist political clashes, furthering the reach of Big Government into the lives of all of us.
The government already pays about half the bill for Public Allies through Bill Clinton's AmeriCorps program.
Obama seeks to fund it at levels equal to the U.S. Defense Department – close to $500 billion annually.
This is what he meant when he said: "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded" as the military."
IBD concludes: "The gall of it: The Obamas want to create a boot camp for radicals who hate the military – and stick American taxpayers with the bill."What else is there to say?

Obama makes his "closing remarks" to the Nation
One week.
After decades of broken politics in Washington, eight years of failed policies from George Bush, and twenty-one months of a campaign that has taken us from the rocky coast of Maine to the sunshine of California, we are one week away from change in America.
In one week, you can turn the page on policies that have put the greed and irresponsibility of Wall Street before the hard work and sacrifice of folks on Main Street.
In one week, you can choose policies that invest in our middle-class, create new jobs, and grow this economy from the bottom-up so that everyone has a chance to succeed; from the CEO to the secretary and the janitor; from the factory owner to the men and women who work on its floor.
In one week, you can put an end to the politics that would divide a nation just to win an election; that tries to pit region against region, city against town, Republican against Democrat; that asks us to fear at a time when we need hope.
In one week, at this defining moment in history, you can give this country the change we need.

More Than Just A Vote...But A Chance At History
A big thanks to Meghan SeeKamp for sending me this first person account from Ohio:
Upon arriving at the Hamilton County Board of Elections in Cincinnati to vote early today I happened upon some friends of my mothers - 3 small, elderly Jewish women. They were quite upset as they were being refused admitance to the polling location due to their Obama T-Shirts, hats and buttons. Apparently you cannot wear Obama/McCain gear into polling locations here in Ohio.... They were practically on the verge of tears.
After a minute or two of this a huge man (6'5", 300 lbs easy) wearing a Dale Earnhardt jacket and Bengal's baseball cap left the voting line, came up to us and introduced himself as Mike. He told us he had overheard our conversation and asked if the ladies would like to borrow his jacket to put over their t-shirts so they could go in and vote. The ladies quickly agreed. As long as I live I will never forget the image of these eighty plus year old Jewish ladies walking into the polling location wearing a huge Dale Earnhardt racing jacket that came over their hands and down to their knees!
Mike, patiently waited for each woman to cast thier vote, accepted thier many thanks and then got back in line (I saved him a place while he was helping out the ladies). When Mike got back in line I asked him if he was an Obama supporter. He said that he was not, but that he couldn't stand to see those ladies so upset. I thanked him for being a gentleman in a time of bitter partisanship and wished him well.
After I voted I walked out to the street to find my mother's friends surrouding our new friend Mike - they were laughing and having a great time. I joined them and soon learned that Mike had changed his mind in the polling booth and ended up voting for Obama. When I asked him why he changed his mind at the last minute, he explained that while he was waiting for his jacket he got into a conversation with one of the ladies who had explained how the Jewish community, and she, had worked side by side with the black community during the civil rights movements of the 60's, and that this vote was the culmination of those personal and community efforts so many years ago. That this election for her was more than just a vote...but a chance at history.
Mike looked at me and said, "Obama's going to win and I didn't want to tell my grandchildren some day that I had an opportunity to vote for the first black president, but I missed my chance at history and voted for the other guy."

The GOP's war on minority voters has kicked into high gear.
CROWN POINT, Ind. (AP) — A judge weighing whether to close down early voting sites in Lake County’s Democratic strongholds questioned local officials about the absentee voting process during visits to the disputed sites.
Lake County Superior Court Judge Diane Kavadias-Schneider toured the Gary, Hammond and East Chicago satellite voting sites Monday and heard hours of testimony and arguments on whether they are legal and fair.
Republicans want to shut down the centers in the largely Democratic county on the grounds that they will increase the likelihood of vote fraud in the Nov. 4 election.
Kavadias-Schneider, who was appointed a special judge in the case by the Indiana Supreme Court, questioned county elections board director Sally LaSota on Monday about the process of early voting and safeguards against vote fraud.
LaSota assured the judge that the elections board staff ensures voters are registered and don’t vote more than once.
When Kavadias-Schneider asked, “What of those who have already voted?” R. Lawrence Steele, a GOP lawyer, replied, “Maybe those votes should be discarded.”
Yesterday, a judge dismissed the GOP lawsuit. Early voting will continue in Lake County.
