Organizing For America To Deliver Over Half A Million Pledges To Capitol Hill

For the last couple of weekends, Venetians have been collecting "pledges" from their friends and neighbors in support of President Obama's budget priorities for Healthcare, Education, and Energy. In all, we collected over 500 signatures. In CD 36, we collected over 1,500.

Want to know what's going to happen to all those signatures? Here's your answer.

From the DNC:

Organizing for America (OFA), a project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), will hold a press availability and photo/b-roll opportunity at DNC headquarters TODAY, Wednesday, April 1, as OFA Director Mitch Stewart and more than 100 local OFA volunteers gather to hand deliver 642,000 signed pledges in support of President Obama's budget to Congress.

President Obama's budget includes a plan to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term and create jobs by investing in the three areas most critical to our future:

  • Energy: Transforming America's economy to run on clean and renewable energy in order to create new American jobs and industries.

  • Health care: Comprehensively reforming health care so that families, businesses and government are relieved from the crushing costs that impede economic growth and prosperity.

  • Education: Reforming and investing in America's education system so our children are prepared to compete in a global economy.

OFA's Pledge Project is part of a larger OFA effort to identify and mobilize support for the economic vision President Obama outlined in his budget. OFA is also encouraging Americans to call their Members of Congress and urge them to support the plan. Everyday, volunteers and supporters are continuing to have conversations and educate their neighbors and members of their community about the President's plan.
