Sarah Palin will be the keynote speaker at a huge convention of hunters later this month, organizers announced on Friday.
The former vice presidential candidate and possible 2012 presidential hopeful is headed to Safari Club International’s convention later this month in Reno, Nev. - one of the key early presidential primary states.
Organizers made the announcement that Palin would be appearing at the gun-related gathering less than a week after the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords that badly injured her and left six dead.
Palin is scheduled to keynote the pro-hunting group’s huge annual meeting on Jan. 29 - 20,000 are expected from around the world - with a speech on “her past hunting experiences and how politics affect the current state of hunting and fishing,” according to a Safari Club website. Tickets for the event are already sold out.
Since the shooting in Tucson, Palin has been tangled in controversy for her pro-gun rhetoric and use of gun crosshairs to identify Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s (D-Ariz.) district on a map of pro-health reform House members.
