From the 60 Minutes transcript:
When President-elect Obama gave his victory speech Tuesday night in Chicago's Grant Park, he was quick to give credit. "To the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics," the president-Elect said, "You made this happen."
Obama is our president for the same the reason there is a United States--because the intrinsic need to be stronger and more salubrious for our children is a tenet of the human agenda, and advancing that is irresistible to the human heart--and when human heart is stirred, the human spirit becomes engaged, and the human spirit is unconquerable. And the eyes of the world was on this election for one reason: We are not Europe, not Africa, not Asia, not Australia, not South or Central America--we are all of them. This has conceivably been, the Gettysburg victory for the hope of one world, one people. These people who surrounded Obama, like the people who surrounded George Washington are truly a gift from God. --Dr. W. A. Gordon, UCLA
